I like to take the approach of capturing the light that falls across a scene or subject rather than focusing too heavily on the subject itself. My paintings are a way for me to explore the wonder of the world around me, everything from the grand scale of nature’s giant sea cliffs & valleys, to the intrigue of places and people far from home, or simply the shadows cast across a sunlit street right outside my front door. All the time asking….what is the light doing?
I was born in Leamington Spa in 1985 and as far back as I can remember I had a real interest in painting and drawing which continued all the way through my school years. After a slight deviation from the world of creativity for a few years, in 2010 I found myself working freelance creating custom artwork for guitars and other musical instruments. In 2011 I made a move towards fine art painting and took an apprentice position at the Trevor Waugh Studio in Cheltenham, UK. In 2012 I exhibited my work throughout the Cotswolds, including the Moreton Show (Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire, UK) and at my family home in the village of Binton, Warwickshire, UK as part of the Warwickshire Open Studios. Later in 2012 I opened a small pop up gallery for a limited time only in the heart of Stratford-Upon-Avon called “From the Easel” and exhibited my work along with a small collection of other artists.
I am currently continuing to exhibit my work throughout the UK as well as taking on several commissions & other projects.
